Professional Psychotherapy & Christian Faith
About Dawn Loshigian, PsyD, LP, LMHC
Life can feel overwhelming at times. Whether you're facing anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, work stress, or questions about faith, you don't have to navigate those struggles alone. I help Christian adults find practical tools, renewed hope, and a deeper sense of purpose through counseling that integrates evidence-based psychology and Christian faith.
My journey into counseling began in education where I worked as a teacher and school counselor. Today, I am licensed as both a psychologist and mental health counselor in New York. Over the years, I have worked in addiction treatment, community mental health, higher education, employee assistance programs, and private practice.
Faith, gratitude, respect, and service are important expressions of who I am as a person and a professional. As a result, I serve people in my community in a number of capacities. These experiences continually remind me of the resilience, dignity, and value of every person I have the privilege to support.

I work particularly well with adults experiencing anxiety and depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, work-related stress, relationship challenges, spiritual discouragement, and questions about living a balanced life and are seeking counseling and support that respects both their faith traditions and the best of modern psychological science. However, my favorite client is the person who chooses me, grows, and flourishes. I am always humbled by that.

My style is collaborative, practical, and evidence-based. I believe clients are experts on their own lives, and I strive to create a healing environment where clients choose goals and a pace that feels right for them. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps individuals understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Christian principles and spiritual practices can be thoughtfully integrated into treatment.

While I provide empathy and support, I also help clients identify patterns, develop actionable strategies, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. In our work together, I encourage curiosity and celebrate progress. It is a privilege to walk alongside people during difficult seasons of life, and I approach that responsibility with empathy, respect, and genuine care. Together, we work toward greater clarity, healthier coping strategies, stronger relationships, and a deeper sense of hope and purpose.
